Two clever pupils from Backwell School came in the top 100 at a national foreign language spelling bee.
Year seven pupils with a love for languages were given 200 words to learn in their chosen language.
They then had to correctly translate and spell as many words as possible in a minute.
Kathryn Hall, who chose French, and Esther Richards, who picked Spanish, performed extremely well and came in the top 100 of 75,000 entrants from across England.
The spelling bee final was held at Anglia Ruskin University’s Cambridge campus and 580 schools took part in the competition year.
