Backwell pupils get cooking

AN AFTER school club organised by parent volunteers has been showing off its baking prowess to the community.

The Let’s Get Cooking programme, now in its third year at Backwell School, aims to teach children, parents and village residents a range of new cooking skills.

Pupils recently invited friends and family to join them in whipping up tasty muffins and biscuits.

Co-ordinator Marie Davis said: “All year seven, eight and nine students have the opportunity of learning a range of cooking skills in their design and technology lessons with the importance of healthy eating high on the agenda.

“The Let’s Get Cooking programme has given our students the chance to develop their skills further and enjoy creating new dishes.”
