‘Incredibly hard-working staff’ have been praised for helping a school achieve a good Ofsted rating.

Inspectors were pleased by the standards they witnessed at High Down Schools, in Portishead.

The quality of teaching and the attitude of pupils were praised by Ofsted.

Headteacher Andreya Cowan said it was 'wonderful' to receive positive praise from Ofsted.

She added: "We were also particularly pleased to see the staff's respectful relationships with the children were clearly evident (in the report) as this is fundamental to our values."

Ms Cowan wants to build towards an outstanding rating next time.

A 'proud' Rhodri Hopkins, executive deputy headteacher, said "Our incredibly hard-working staff want the absolute best for the children and this is evident on a daily basis.

"We are pleased with how our fantastic children demonstrate our values and make this school such a wonderful and purposeful place to be."
