A PORTISHEAD schoolgirl has received a prestigious television award.
Alma Rahman, a year 12 student at Gordano School, received a Channel S award for Achievements in Education at an award ceremony in London.
Channel S Awards recognise the contributions made by members of the Bangladeshi community in Britain.
The 17-year-old, who was nominated for the award by her tutor Stefan Chilcott, achieved 15 GCSEs of which 11 were A*’s and the other four were A’s. She is now studying at Gordano Sixth form for A-levels in maths, chemistry, physics, biology and critical thinking.
Earlier this year Alma was given the role of deputy head girl at Gordano. Once she has completed her A-levels she plans to study medicine at university.
