Gordano School to become an academy next month
GORDANO School in Portishead will become an academy on July 1.
Governors at the school voted in favour of the school becoming an academy in May after extensive consultation with the public.
Speaking after the decision, headteacher Gary Lewis said: “This is a change in legal status for the school but not a new direction. Gordano is a successful local comprehensive school and that’s just what we intend to remain.”
As a result of the new status, the school will now be run by the governing body which will be responsible for its budget and assets.
