CHILDREN wore their Holy Communion clothes for a special celebration at a Portishead school.
Pupils at St Joseph’s Primary School took part in a May procession to the school field where they laid fresh flowers in front of a statue of Mary, which was bought for the school by former headteacher Mrs Jeffery.
Mrs Jeffery and new headteacher Miss Carter joined children for the service, which is a tradition of the Catholic faith and also saw the statue crowned with flowers.
