A SCIENCE and engineering workshop at a Portishead school showed pupils there is much more to engineering than engines.
Members of the Royal Air Force and British Aerospace spent the day at St Peter’s Primary School performing a short play before engaging youngsters in the workshop.
Class teacher Lorraine Clarke said: “The pupils had a fantastic day looking at how nature influences engineering.
“They learnt how the box fish influenced the shape of cars and how the kingfisher influenced the Japanese train design with its quiet movement.”
Pupils also investigated the use of robots and were invited to enter a competition in which they designed their own chair.
