Nailsea School has revealed it achieved even better GCSE results this summer than first believed.

A computer error led to an underestimation on how well pupils at the school had performed this year.

Instead of the 79 per cent figure first given for the number of students gaining at least five A*-C grades, the correct figure has been confirmed at 81 per cent.

A total of 65 per cent gained five or more A*-C grades including English and maths, compared with the original figure given of 62 per cent.

Despite the computer error, individual students were given the correct results. It was only when they were aggregated that some were missed.
