THE expansion of Portishead’s newest school has been marked by a topping out ceremony.
Staff, pupils and special guests at Trinity Anglican Methodist Primary School, donned hard hats to join Reverend Andy Bryant on the site for a special ceremony and blessing.
An olive tree sprig, Noah’s Ark style, was placed on the highest point of the building as it was completed, before the guests enjoyed tea and biscuits, provided by contractors Wilmott Dixon.
The expansion will transform the Marjoram Way school from a 210 to a 420-place school.
Work on the �2million project, which will see the addition of six new classrooms, two activity rooms, a nursery and more toilets, started in December 2010 and is expected to be complete in time for the September intake.
