CLASSMATES and former pupils took part in a day of celebrations to mark the 160th anniversary of Tickenham Primary School.
As part of the special day on Friday, a range of Victorian-themed workshops were held with pupils dressed in Victorian costume taking part in their house groups, reflecting the mixed-age classes of the Victorian times.
A drama workshop taught them about Victorian children’s jobs and also say them create a horrible histories-style advert.
They experienced the rules of a Victorian classroom and played games including marbles, croquet, pick up sticks, spinning tops and hop scotch.
In the afternoon, old register books, records and books were displayed and the school heard from Iris Yendole, a grandparent who was at the school in 1939 when war evacuees arrived.
