SUPER-FIT teams of pupils and parents at a Nailsea primary school battled it out in a swimathon to raise funds for new playground equipment.
A total of 11 teams of Golden Valley students competed against adult teams of parents and friends, in a non-stop swimming relay for 45 minutes at Strode Leisure Centre, in Clevedon, cheered on by a crowd of supporters and family members.
The school’s Parents’ Association, who organised the event, said the scoring was ‘very close in both competitions’ but a team of year five pupils were top of the table with ‘a very impressive’ total of 97 lengths.
Organiser Jo Edwards said: “The parents’ association would like to thank all the parents, staff, lane counters, volunteers and most of all the brilliant swimmers for making the event so successful.”
