SINGING, dancing and an impromptu football tournament were all enjoyed when a performing group from South Africa visited Flax Bourton Primary School.
The 11 young people and two mentors from the Nkomazi region of the country are visiting North Somerset as part of a Youth in Action project run by Portishead charity, Za.
The group, called Zakhele, went to Flax Bourton’s school where they were welcomed by the whole school singing.
They then took part in a storytelling workshop and invited the children to join them in learning The Wellyboot Dance which originated in the mining villages of South Africa.
The school was also visited by Christabel Lushaba, principal of Sidlemu Primary School in the same province, as part of a Connecting Classrooms initiative.
The Zakhele group has been touring schools across North Somerset and they are also pictured holding workshops with youngsters at High Down Infant School in Portishead and pupils at Backwell School
