BUG boxes, a wildflower meadow and a dipping platform are some of the features which have been added to a school pond to create a wildlife area.
The Friends of St Francis Primary School in Nailsea have worked with the school and children to regenerate the pond and turn it into an outdoor classroom, which was officially opened by Father Reg.
A new shelter has been built around the beauty spot with a bench and work area and bird boxes and a log pile wall have also been added to attract different creatures.
Headteacher Caroline Hostein said: “We worked with the children’s council to create a really nice pond and wildlife area. The children can now enjoy an outdoor learning space.”
