Clevedon primary school pupils have been making the most out of new playground equipment worth thousands of pounds.

The Friends of St Nicholas Chantry Primary School has spent £2,000 on equipment and new markings to make playtimes more enjoyable for children and encourage more exercise.

The group raised the money by holding events including quiz nights, discos, a Christmas fair and fun run.

Headteacher Peter Treasure-Smith says the equipment has already been well-used.

He said: “This playground equipment is incredibly popular.

“We want to say thank you to the Friends of St Nicholas Chantry and all the parents and members of the community that have supported this.”

The school recently joined the Clevedon Learning Trust alongside Mary Elton, Tickenham and Yeo Moor primary schools, and Clevedon School.
