Edna marks 100 years with family party

A FORMER teacher celebrated her 100th birthday surrounded by family and friends.

Edna Vowles, who lives in Silver Trees Care Home, was treated to cake and presents as she celebrated a century with her loved ones.

Edna was married in 1936 and has two sons, three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, with another on the way in the next few weeks.

She loved to play the piano and achieved a degree in music.

During her career, she took on the role as deputy head at Backwell Junior School and later moved to Flax Bourton Primary School before retiring at 65.

Edna enjoyed a visit from her son Peter, granddaughter Katie and great-grandchildren Archie and Ellie-Mae.
