Man charged with drink-driving after Portishead hit and run

A 22-year-old man has been charged with drink-driving after a hit and run in Portishead.

A van and a car collided in Nore Road at about 7.30pm on Wednesday.

The van driver initially left the scene but was arrested later by two off-duty police officers.

He was later charged and will appear at North Somerset Magistrates Court on June 27.

A woman was also taken to Southmead Hospital with a suspected knee injury.
