DOCTORS and nurses from a Nailsea surgery will be swapping their stethoscopes for oars tomorrow as they take to the water for Bristol’s Dragon Boat Festival.

Colleagues from Nailsea Family Practice at Tower House Medical Centre have teamed up for the event to raise money for the Great Western Air Ambulance.

Receptionist Irene McGill, who will be banging the boat’s drum during the race said: “We chose the charity because it’s a really good cause and close to our hearts being medical. If it wasn’t for them many lives would be lost.

“We’ve never done this before, but we just thought it would be something different and good fun.”

To keep up the Olympic theme, the team will be dressed in togas and laurel wreaths and serving Greek food from a gazebo on the day of the race.

The festival is being held on Sunday and staff are now appealing to people to sponsor them.

There are sponsor forms in reception at the surgery, in Stockway South, or you can also visit www.justgiving.com/Nailsea-Family-Practice
