festival: Generous organisers of Backwell Festival have donated proceeds from the event to a village charity.
Backwell Festival was held at Backwell Junior School and the musical spectacle raised more than 3,000.
The majority of the money will be spent on the library and a new cookery area for pupils, but organisers have donated 600 to Backwell Access Group to help pay for a path around Backwell Lake.
The access group is hoping to build a path around the beauty spot to enable disabled people and parents with pushchairs to access the lake. The charity has applied to the Big Lottery Fund for the 25,000 needed for the project and is hoping to submit a planning application for the scheme within the next few months.
