A FUND-RAISER at a cancer charity in Pill has been honoured for her work using technology to benefit the local community.

Tami McMahon is head of fund-raising at Penny Brohn Cancer Care and has managed to secure a grant of �5,000 for a new advice portal for cancer patients after being named the winner of the TalkTalk Digital Heroes Award for the South West.

Tami, of Ham Green, received the most votes in the regional awards, which are held to recognise the work of digitally-minded individuals.

Tami will use the prize money to create a new web-based platform to give lifestyle and wellbeing advice and information to people living with cancer.

Penny Brohn Cancer Care has a dedicated facility in Chapel Pill Lane and aims to provide complementary help to cancer patients.
