Archant

An unusually scary sight has greeted visitors to Clevedon Pier.

Denzel the dinosaur, part of Bristol Zoo’s Dinomania exhibition, spent a day at the grade I-listed pier.

The robotic prehistoric creature, similar to a tyrannosaurus rex, is four metres long and six feet tall, while he boasts features including blinking eyes, moving body parts and an ear-splitting roar.

Visitors were able to take a stroll with Denzel to the end of the pier while he also stopped to pose for some photos.

The fleeting visit was part of his tour of the South West which has also seen him at the Clifton Suspension Bridge and Bristol’s Cabot Circus.

Denzel is one of 11 giant animatronic dinosaurs which will be at Bristol Zoo throughout the summer, with other beasts including a dilophosaurus and a giganotosaurus.

Bristol Zoo’s Dinomania exhibition will be open until September 3.
