A free roadshow to educate people about dementia will be held on Monday.

The Dementia Friendly Portishead Roadshow will see community groups and health providers run stalls offering information and advice about how people can cope with the illness.

Brenda Birkinshaw, of organiser Portishead Dementia Action Alliance, said: “We want to speak to everyone about what they want and need in Portishead to make the town better for those living with dementia.

“And we’re always looking for volunteers to approach businesses and groups to help them become more accessible.

“Many of the changes needed are simple to make and cost nothing or very little to put into place.

“We also offer free Dementia Friends sessions and really want everyone to know a little bit about dementia because it affects so many.”

The event will run from 9.30am-12.30pm at Somerset Hall.
