A DANGEROUS bridge near to the cliff path in Portishead has undergone immediate works after council officers found it to be dangerous.
Councillor David Pasley was alerted to the leaning bridge by a Clevedon resident who regularly walks to Portishead using the cliff path. It spans the natural stream that spills out on to the beach, near to The Windmill pub in Nore Road.
Cllr Pasley said: “When I looked at the bridge it was leaning badly and so I immediately called North Somerset Council officials.”
Inspectors confirmed the bridge was in a dangerous condition and instructed its removal. Work to replace the bridge commenced on Friday and is expected to be completed this week.
