SCORES of daffodils stole the limelight at Portishead’s annual spring show.
The perfect yellow blooms stood alongside hyacinths, crocus and tulips, filling the town’s Folk Hall with scent and colour, while home baked-cakes, children’s artwork, floral arrangements and Easter baskets also took pride of place in the displays, judged by organisers who are members of the Portishead and District Horticultural Society. John Tovey, a spokesman for the society, said: “The event brought lots of colour and cheer to the day and we are very pleased the gardeners of Portishead made such an effort. We would like to thank all entrants and sponsors of the show.”
Members of the organisation are now working hard in preparation for the society’s 150th Flower Show and Country Fair which takes place at the flower show field on July 27 and 28. For more information visit www.portisheadflowershow.com
