CLEVEDON’S popular cinema just missed out on being named the UK’s best heritage project in the National Lottery Awards.

The Curzon Community Cinema beat hundreds of projects from across the country to make it to the finals, but was beaten in the last round by Durlston Castle in Swanage.

Jackie O’Sullivan, from the National Lottery Awards, said: “The awards recognise the life-changing difference lottery-funded projects make to communities and the Curzon is a shining example of this. Reaching the finals was an amazing achievement and everyone involved should be very proud.”
