A PORTISHEAD couple have been honoured for their work in the community.
Edna and Mike Burt have been awarded the John Daws Cup by Portishead in Bloom, along with �100 donated by the North Somerset Times.
Portishead in Bloom chairman Sandy Tebbutt said: “Edna and Mike always step in to help others in any way they can and especially at the Jubilee Day Care Centre.
“They are committed to assisting various local organisations including the Portishead and Redcliffe Bay horticultural societies and are always willing to give lifts to people who can’t get around so easily.
“The Portishead in Bloom group felt that Mike and Edna were very worthy recipients of the award for their unfailing dedication to people in need.”
The cup was created in memory of John Daws, one of the founders of Portishead in Bloom, and is presented each year to a member of the community who has made an outstanding contribution to the town.
