Archant

Dozens of children braved wet and windy conditions to give Clevedon Pier a spring clean.

A group of cubs from the town scrubbed the decks of the Grade I-listed pier to help celebrate the 148th anniversary since its opening.

The pier opened for the first time on March 29 1869 and welcomed the Clevedon 1st Cubs for a behind the scenes tour to celebrate.

They also took part in the pier’s first young people’s one day volunteering project and will use it to achieve their community badge.
