A CHARITY’S catering team will to get a brand new kitchen refit - thanks in part to big-hearted North Somerset Times readers.

The Brandon Trust’s Crumbles group, based at Nailsea’s Scotch Horn Leisure Centre, is looking forward to working with modern equipment after generous supporters responded to a cash appeal.

The project needed 5,000 to replace worn out appliances and other items used by the students, who have learning disabilities, to develop their catering skills and experience to help them get jobs.

Project manager Martyn Williams said: “Crumbles can now pay for a new oven and dishwasher and the installation costs, thanks to help from Times readers and top-up grants from the Stoke Park Friends Fund and the Quartet Community Foundation.

“It was really important that we raised the funds quickly, as the new equipment will replace items that could no longer be used for training purposes, including the oven that is over thirty years old”.
