Crossing plans shelved

PUBLISHED: 15:00 02 December 2010

NAILSEA residents hoping for crossings in two busy roads have been told they will not go ahead.

Following an investigation into sites in Clevedon Road and Queens Road, North Somerset Council has decided there is not a need for crossings at either.

The crossing in Clevedon Road was asked for to help parents and teachers walking to the two schools in Pound Lane.

A North Somerset Council spokesman said: “We did a pedestrian and vehicle count at both sites and also looked at the accident records.

“There have been no accidents at either of the sites and the number of people and vehicles using the roads was thought to be too low to warrant crossings.

“We always welcome suggestions for crossings and we will investigate them.”
