Swimmers will brace the chilly waters of Marine Lake on Saturday to raise money for a homeless charity.

Crisis is taking the Icebreaker Challenge to Clevedon for the first time, this month.

The event is taking place at 11am at Marine Lake, in Old Church Road.

Swimmers in fancy dress will take on the challenge solo by braving an icy plunge of the lake or swimming a few laps.

A number of prizes will be up for grabs as judges pick the best fancy dress costumes.

Lindsey Cole, adventurer and outdoor swimmer, will open and judge the event.

She said: "Taking the plunge in to the freezing waters might seem like a daunting thing to do, but it's a great challenge and makes you feel so alive afterwards."

There is a £10 registration fee which will go towards Crisis' services which help people to leave homelessness behind.
