Criminal damage in Nailsea

THE owners of a house in Nailsea had a nasty shock when a stone bird bath was thrown through their living room window.

The suspect is also believed to have smashed the windows of a car parked on Watery Lane, before throwing the garden ornament through the window of a bungalow on Hanham Way between 1.30-2am on December 18.

The residents were in their home at the time and were greatly alarmed at the incident.

Police are now appealing for any witnesses to come forward. The suspect is described as around 18-20 years of age, wearing black jeans and a black coat and either had dark hair or wore a dark coloured hat.

He appeared to be extremely drunk and at one point was seen lying in the middle of the road.

He is thought to have walked along Watery Lane to the junction of Causeway View and onwards towards the address in Hanham Way.

PC Adam Clarke from Nailsea Police Station said: “This was a totally unnecessary and unprovoked crime. The individual caused considerable damage and, as you can imagine, the elderly owners of the house whose front window was smashed were extremely shaken and alarmed by the actions of this person. This is supposed to be the season of goodwill.

“I would appeal for anyone with any information relating to these incidents to come forward. Please contact the police on 0845 456 7000 giving any information you feel may be relevant.”

Anyone with any information can also call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
