A carer who was found guilty of assaulting a Clevedon man with Down’s syndrome has been given a suspended sentence and ordered to carry out community service.
Andrew Driver, aged 46, was given a 12-month suspended sentence by magistrates at North Somerset Courthouse on Friday.
He was found guilty on September 23 of assaulting 52-year-old David Booth in a Tesco car park in Clevedon in December last year.
Mr Booth was slapped and punched by Driver after refusing to get into a car.
Driver, of George Street in Weston-super-Mare, must carry out 100 hours unpaid work and pay £700 in charges and £100 compensation.
