A Nailsea man has pleaded guilty to the murder of his wife Claire Tavener who was found dead at their home in January.

Andrew Tavener, aged 45, of Brendon Gardens, was due to stand trial, but entered a guilty plea when he appeared at Bristol Crown Court this morning (Thursday).

Claire Tavener, aged 27, was found by paramedics at 7am on January 8 but pronounced dead at the scene.

Police later confirmed the mother-of-two suffered multiple stab wounds.

Her husband was arrested shortly afterwards at Nailsea and Backwell Railway Station with life-changing hand injuries.

Tavener is due to be sentenced at Bristol Crown Court on April 10.
