A Clevedon couple has celebrated getting married with with an 18th century-style party on Clevedon Pier.

Bryony Goode and Paul Evans, who live in Halswell Road, marked their big day on Saturday with a Georgian theme, including a bespoke silk dress made by a professional designer who has worked in film and television, while guests, including the bridesmaids and ring-bearer, wore authentic costumes from the period.

Although the service itself was held at Kenn Road Methodist Church the happy couple were photographed on the Grade I-listed pier afterwards.

Bryony, aged 52, said: “We had the most amazing day.

“The colours of the costumes were beautiful together when the sun shone.

“We were surrounded by friends and family pouring out such love to us.

“All the 18th century music was beautifully played by friends and family and the 18th century gingerbreads went down very well.”

The pair met on New Year’s Eve in 2003 after spending a few years getting to know each other online and have since had one son, called Taliesin, aged 10.

Paul, aged 71, is a veterinarian who also works in meat hygiene consultancy while Bryony is the former head of music at Gordano School in Portishead.
