North Somerset Council is cutting its Connect service from this week.

A key council service which supports residents reporting problems with rubbish collections, potholes and antisocial behaviour will see its opening hours reduced by 20 per cent.

North Somerset Council’s Connect service is facing a cut in its hours following an authority review into how and when people use council facilities.

As reported last week, a number of libraries around the district have already seen their hours cut, while the authority this week announced plans to reduce the opening hours at its Weston Town Hall base, including closing on Sundays.

Council Connect is now the latest service to see its hours slashed, with the council revealing plans to change from daily hours of 8am-6pm each week day to a 9am-5pm schedule instead.

A spokesman for the council told the Times that although this amounts to 20 per cent of the total opening hours, only eight per cent of calls to Council Connect are made during the hours being cut.
