PORTISHEAD Town Council has reduced its precept to householders for the fourth year running.
Approving the budget for the financial year ending March 2014, council members set the precept at £292,206.
This means an average band D property in Portishead will be charged £30.64 for the year which is more than 3 per cent less than last year.
Town council chairman, John Clark, said: “The town council is very pleased that due to past prudence and careful financial management it has been able to reduce the precept again for the coming year.”
The precept is money collected at the same time as council tax but is the amount allocated to town councils for them to use for town expenditure. This can involve a range of services and facilities including allotments, play areas, notice boards, grit bins, public benches, the running of community halls and grant aid to local groups and organisations.
