NORTH Somerset Council has agreed to consider Nailsea Town Council’s appeal to take over three of the town’s car parks.
The town council wants to take over the running of the facilities in Station Road, Link Road and Clevedon Road on a 25-year lease to ensure parking in the town remains free. The authority has already set aside £50,000 to improve the amenities.
Councillors suggested the proposal after North Somerset announced it was considering implementing parking charges across the district, which councillors and traders believe will be a huge blow to Nailsea.
North Somerset has now written to the town council to inform members that the matter will be discussed with an executive member early in the new year.
