A parish council is calling for people to help clean up a North Somerset village this month.

A spring clean will be held in Congresbury on March 24, with green-fingered volunteers needed to help spruce up the village.

The parish council hopes to tidy public spaces in the village, and replant the Geoffrey Peacock Memorial Garden.

Parish council chairman Diana Hassan believes the event will help to spruce up the village.

She said: “Over the past two years the parish council has been very proactive in making the village a brighter, cleaner and more attractive place to live.

“Events such as the spring clean day are designed to foster a greater sense of community and will encourage all our residents, young and old to take pride in their village.”

The spring clean, which has been organised in tandem by the parish council and Love Congresbury, will begin at the cross, in Broad Street, at 9am.
