Congresbury causes net parish council grant

A North Somerset parish council has awarded good causes with cash grants worth more than £20,000.
Congresbury Parish Council held its annual meeting on May 8, and awarded five causes a share of £24,782.
Most of the cash was given to Congresbury Youth Partnership, which organises activities for children aged eight to 14 in the village.
The youth partnership will receive £19,000. Congresbury Millennium Green Trust was awarded £4,100 for maintenance of green space, while £1,000 was allocated to Vine Counselling for the provision of counselling to adult villagers. Little Rascals toddler group will receive £250 and Congresbury Community Preschool was awarded £432, with the condition it relocates some activities to the primary school.
Applications from Wellspring Counselling and Congresbury New Village Hall Development Trust for £500 were rejected.
The parish council also refused a £600 application from Somerset Storyfest.
