A GROUP of thoughtful schoolboys from Nailsea have raised 110 for charity by performing their own version of a popular song.

Charlie Cox, Daniel James, Toby Houghton, Jakob Hole, Ben Seskell and Sebastian Allen sang the Take That song, The Flood, at a concert organised by Hannah More Infant School and afterwards collected donations toward a play unit at Bristol’s children’s hospital.

Just weeks before the concert, teachers overheard the boys singing together in the school playground and encouraged them to keep practising.

Buoyed by their teachers’ support, the seven-year-old boys found the full song lyrics and began learning them before performing in front of their classmates in the school hall.

They then took part in their school’s annual concert, which was held at Nailsea School for friends and family members to attend.

After their performance, they received a hearty round of applause and were rewarded with donations for the unit at the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children, which aids recovery through play, at the end of the evening.
