More than 200 people attended a service to welcome the new rector at Holy Trinity Church in Nailsea.
Rev James Packman has moved to the church from Tunbridge Wells and is looking forward to getting to know his new parishioners.
Bishop of Taunton Ruth Worsley and Archdeacon of Bath Adrian Youings inducted James into the new role.
James has taken over from Rev Jolyon Trickey who left Holy Trinity Church a year ago.
Bishop Ruth challenged James to enable and support church members and to be open to new ways of serving the community.
Holy Trinity Church, in Church Lane, has three services on Sundays, a mid-week service, a fortnightly messy church and a range of activities for all age groups throughout the week.
Its coffee lounge is also open on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9am-1pm.
