Community award for bloom chairman
A NAILSEA man has been presented with a community service award from Nailsea and Backwell Rotary Club for his outstanding contribution to local life.
Martyn Davis, chairman of Nailsea in Bloom, has helped to bring great prestige to the town and lasting enjoyment to the community as well as brightening up the area with beautiful flowers and plants.
Led by Martyn, Nailsea in Bloom entered the South West in Bloom competition achieving a silver award in the first year, then three silver-gilts, and gold for the past three years.
In 2010, Nailsea also won the Burford Cup for best non-municipal planting display in the south west.
A Rotary spokesman said: “Thanks to the Nailsea in Bloom team, improvements have been made to the village green, the fire station area, approaches to the Tesco roundabout and the three gateways to the town.
“Never has the Rotary Community Service Award been more richly deserved.”
Martyn is also chairman of Naislea Horticultural Society and joint show secretary, a judge at local events and he has also become a governor of Golden Valley Primary School.
