TEA parties will be held in Clevedon and Portishead as part of efforts to tackle loneliness in older people.

As part of Communi-tea Week, Bupa care homes in the two towns will host social events.

Elm View Nursing Home in Moor Lane, Clevedon, will hold a tea party at 2.30pm on Tuesday. Norewood Lodge Nursing Home in Nore Road, Portishead, will hold a tea party at 2.30pm on March 20.

During the week, Bupa has also teamed up with Tetley Tea and is inviting people to knit or design a special tea cosy. The winner will receive a year’s supply of tea and their design will also be available to buy as a knitting pattern, with 10 per cent of proceeds to go to Age UK.

Anyone wanting to attend an event or enter the competition should call 0845 600 4622 or visit www.bupa.co.uk/communi-teaweek
