The bridge will be closed to vehicles tomorrow (Tuesday) from 7.30pm until 6am the following morning.

A diversion route will be signed, using Bridge Valley Road, Brunel Way and A369 Rownham Hill near Ashton Court.

The suspension bridge trust is reviewing the access requirements to the main chain anchorages to determine if
they can be improved at all, making it easier for engineers to inspect.

Bridge master, Trish Johnson, said: "We will be reviewing the access locations at both ends of the bridge with an aim to improving them for our engineers in the future.

"While the bridge is closed there will also be some filming on the bridge, making use of the closure.

"Pedestrians will still be able to use the bridge, but cycling will be prohibited and cyclists must dismount and walk across the bridge, but be mindful of the pedestrians also using the footways."
