People will not be able to travel over the Clifton Suspension Bridge between North Somerset and Bristol at certain times this week.

On Thursday night and Saturday evening will see the iconic bridge shut off in both directions from all road traffic, cyclists and pedestrians because of the Bristol International Balloon Fiesta.

The event will be held over four days, starting tomorrow, at Ashton Court but the bridge is closed each year for the nightglows and fireworks as a safety precaution.

On both nights it will close at 6pm and will not be reopened until midnight.

Traffic from North Somerset hoping to reach Bristol city centre will be directed down Rownham Hill and the Cumberland Basin while the bridge is shut.
