Clifton Suspension Bridge shut to motorists and cyclists this week

The Clifton Suspension Bridge will be closed at various points this week to allow maintenance to be carried out.

The bridge, which connects Bristol with North Somerset, will be shut to motorists and cyclists from 9.30am-4pm every day this week, until Friday.

A spokesman for the bridge trust said: “During these bridge closures pedestrians will still be able to use the bridge, but cycling will be prohibited.

“Cyclists may dismount and walk across the bridge, however as only one narrow footway will be open cyclists are requested to avoid using the bridge if possible.

“There will be diversion routes signed as usual along Rownham Hill, Brunel Way and Bridge Valley Road.”

The bridge will also be closed at various points during the Bristol Balloon Fiesta next month.
