The Clifton Suspension Bridge was closed in both directions this morning (Tuesday) due to a ‘police incident’,

The bridge is a popular route into Bristol city centre for motorists heading to work from North Somerset and its closure has led to delays as a result.

There are reports of slow traffic using Bridge Valley Road and delays of up to 30 minutes are reported on roads around Abbots Leigh and Leigh Woods, including the A369 Rownham Hill.

Police closed the bridge amid concerns for a person’s welfare.

The bridge was closed at about 7am and reopened at about 8am, however traffic issues are expected to last for the whole of the morning’s rush-hour.
