A campaign to build a new skatepark in Clevedon will be launched at the weekend.

An event will be held at the park on the Salthouse Fields from noon to 2pm tomorrow (Saturday).

DJs will perform on the day while information on the campaign will also be available to view.

A competition to design a logo and name for the initiative will also be started.

The idea for a new and improved skatepark in Clevedon arose last year when young people in the town admitted they would prefer money to be spent on the facility rather than a proposed seafront youth shelter.

Last month a meeting was held at the town council offices, where dozens of people attended to share their views.

It is believed the improvements could cost up to £150,000 with the town council owning a £26,000 starting pot.
