Clevedon Lions Club has whisked a club for a fun day out in Weston as part of its dream scheme.

Members of the Happy Companions Club enjoyed a day trip to Puxton Park and visited Weston’s seafront where they feasted on a delicious lunch at the Tropicana’s Bay Café.

The club, which arranges regular social activities for older people living independently, received £200 from the Lions’ Annual Dream Scheme to enable them to have three days out.

Funds were also spent on music and quiz books to keep all its members entertained in the winter months.

Lions spokesman Peter Marlow explained the money helps a lot of organisations.

He said: “The Lions’ Dream Scheme has helped many clubs over the past three years with £16,000 allocated during that time to help around 30 projects.”

The cash comes from collections and the Lions’ annual Santa float. Applications for next year’s fund will open on January 1 after Santa returns to Lapland.
