A Clevedon community café has celebrated its first birthday after a year of bringing people together.

The Café 4 U at Kenn Road Methodist Church opened on September 14 last year with the aim to create a safe and friendly environment for the community to come together and meet old and new friends.

It is open every Monday from 9am to noon serving up free refreshments and homemade cakes.

Café leader Nicola Burdge said: “The café has really brought the local community together.

“It is great to see people who have come to see us, originally by themselves, now coming to see their new friends they have met here.

“For many people it has become a regular part of their week.”

Between 25 and 30 guests visit weekly to enjoy each other’s company and it is open for people of all ages, with a designated toy area for the younger members of the town.
