Clevedon Pier has won its first award since the opening of its new £2.25million visitor centre.

The Grade I-listed attraction was given the bronze prize at the Bristol, Bath and North Somerset Tourism Awards in the small attraction of the year category.

The achievement marks a successful first year for the new facility, which opened in May, and the Clevedon Pier and Heritage Trust has paid tribute to the ‘dedication’ of staff and volunteers.

Nicole Laken, business manager, said: “We are delighted to have received this award.

“It is a true recognition of all the hard work and dedication that has gone into this project.

“I am extremely proud of the team of staff and volunteers who have worked extremely hard to make our first year one to remember.”

The awards – which were held at DoubleTree by Hilton, Cadbury House in Congresbury – saw 110 entries put forward from groups across the three regions.
